6G Mobile Network Sensing

During MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Qualcomm demonstrated its wireless sensing technology specifically designed for aerial drone detection. Leveraging ISAC technology, Qualcomm effectively showcased the real-time ability to detect and track drones using existing wireless communication infrastructure.

This innovative demonstration highlights Qualcomm’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of future wireless systems, particularly as part of the evolution toward 6G. Qualcomm’s demonstration utilized RF signals traditionally dedicated to communication, repurposing them to identify and monitor drones in midair.

By integrating advanced signal processing and AI-driven algorithms, the technology accurately located drones and provided real-time monitoring without relying on dedicated radar equipment. This dual-use functionality underscores the efficiency and cost-effectiveness that Qualcomm envisions for future wireless networks.
